Training Center for Professionals

THE CENTER FOR TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS ON ISSUES OF WOMEN’S THERAPY WITH A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE

The Center for Training and Workshops has served as a significant cornerstone throughout the years that the Counseling Center for Women has been in operation.  It is a professional framework, which works to deepen the familiarity of the professional community in Israel with the feminist approach to therapeutic work with women and with issues that are characteristic of the psychology of women, as well as offering tools with which to implement that approach in the therapy session.

The Center for Training and Workshops provides a response to the various needs of professionals in a variety of fields: women graduate students, mental health professionals, therapists and  senior staff members in public services, group facilitators working with therapists working independently, staff members in a multiplicity of professions, welfare workers in branches of municipalities, colleges and universities and government offices as well as  professional staff members in social organizations and community centers.

In the same manner, the Center for Training and Workshops specializes in providing training in peer supervision and egalitarian supervision that contributes to broadening knowledge, empowerment and the improvement of working relations among the staff in dealing with clients.

THE CENTER FOR TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS OFFERS VARIOUS PROGRAMS TO PROFESSIONALS:

The Counseling Center for Women offers supervision to professionals, which is conducted in the spirit of feminist therapy and tailored to the needs of the supervisees. The supervision approach at the Center draws its inspiration from feminist principles and takes place in a supportive, non-hierarchical and non-judgmental framework of peer counseling. The structure of collegial supervision makes a profusion of professional approaches possible, which expands the variety of possibilities for an effective intervention, while, at the same time, creating an opening to additional possibilities among the clients themselves. This format increases staff cohesion and can serve as a professional support group.
The Center offers lectures and professional courses on a variety of subjects in the field of psychology with a gender-oriented approach: violence against women, postpartum depression, principles of feminist therapy, mother and daughter relations, body image, eating disorders, supervision of colleagues and more.
The Center offers individual training in individual and group therapy from a feminist point of view for women who are graduate students in social work. The practicum program is meant for students in their second year of studies towards an advanced degree, and it enables them to get to know the world of feminist therapy, to acquire skills in therapy with women throughout their life cycles, to gain experience in feminist therapy, accompanied by the supervision of a senior clinical therapist in an enabling and contained environment.
The program offers professionals an in depth familiarity with the feminist therapeutic approach and with subjects characteristic of the psychology of women.
